The Chornobyl Forum 2025 is an international gathering of leading Ukrainian scientists, environmental experts, liquidators, and cultural researchers, dedicated to rethinking Chornobyl not only as a historical catastrophe but as a pressing modern-day challenge. Hosted by the European Institute of Chornobyl on April 25, 2025, at the Kyiv City History Museum, the Forum will explore the current state of the Exclusion Zone, the environmental consequences of war, and Chornobyl’s place in global sustainability discourse.
This year’s forum takes on new urgency following the recent strike by a Russian drone on the protective confinement over Reactor No. 4 of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. This tragic event has once again thrust Chornobyl into international focus — now as a critical intersection of war, nuclear safety, ecological collapse, and political responsibility.
